Submit a correction
Placements here are estimated from bout data on hemaratings.com, not taken from official results. Sometimes they are wrong. If you know how a division actually finished, you can send the corrected standings back in a form that can be checked and applied directly.
How it works
- Open the event page and find the division. Press Export in its header — or Export standings at the top of the page, for every division at once — to download the standings as they currently stand.
- Open the file in a spreadsheet and correct the
placingcolumn. - Email the corrected file to [email protected], along with a link to your evidence.
What to change, and what to leave alone
The exported file carries the identifiers that let your corrections be matched back to the right event, division and fighters. Editing or reordering the columns breaks that link.
| Column | Edit? | What it is |
|---|---|---|
placing | Yes | Finishing position. This is the one to fix. |
fighter_name | Carefully | Correct a misspelling only if you leave fighter_id untouched — that is how we know who you mean. |
fighter_id | No | The fighter's hemaratings.com ID. Blank for a fighter we could not identify. |
event_id, division_id | No | Which event and which division these standings belong to. |
event_name, division_name, weapon_key | No need | There so the file is readable. They are ignored on loading. |
exported_at | No | When you took the file, so we can tell if the division has moved since. |
Ties and gaps are allowed
Give two fighters the same number to record a tie. Numbers may skip. Both of these are valid, and they mean different things:
- 1, 2, 3, 3 — two joint thirds, and no fourth place. Common where a semi-final loser bracket is not fenced off.
- 1, 2, 2, 4 — two joint seconds, and the next fencer is fourth.
You do not need to make the numbers consecutive. Record what actually happened.
A worked example
Say the file you downloaded has the top four in the wrong order, and the two semi-final losers actually shared third. The names below are illustrative, and only the placing column changes.
Scroll horizontally to see all columns.
What you download
| division_id | fighter_id | fighter_name | placing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 49735 | 1041 | Fencer A | 1 |
| 49735 | 2277 | Fencer B | 2 |
| 49735 | 3810 | Fencer C | 3 |
| 49735 | 4192 | Fencer D | 4 |
What you send back
| division_id | fighter_id | fighter_name | placing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 49735 | 1041 | Fencer A | 2 |
| 49735 | 2277 | Fencer B | 1 |
| 49735 | 3810 | Fencer C | 3 |
| 49735 | 4192 | Fencer D | 3 |
Highlighted cells are the edits. The first two swap places; Fencer D joins Fencer C on third, so there is no fourth place. division_id and fighter_id are untouched — that is what ties your corrections back to the right people.
Adding or removing a fighter
The file is treated as the division's complete standings: anyone you delete from it is removed from the division, and anyone you add is added. If you add a competitor we missed, put their name in as exactly as you can — we match it against the fighter roster by hand and will not create a new fighter record from a submission.
Some divisions include anonymous competitors, who are counted but never listed. They cannot appear in an export, and the event page says so where that applies. Please don't add rows for them.
Evidence helps
A corrected file says what the result was; it does not show why. Include whatever you have — a HEMAScorecard link, a bracket screenshot, an official results page, or the organiser's own announcement. Submissions that can be checked get applied faster.
What happens next
Every submission is reviewed by a person and applied by hand, one division at a time. Nothing is applied automatically. Once a correction is in, it also freezes that division against being recomputed later, so a hand-verified result stays put. Changes appear on the site after the next grade recompute rather than immediately.
